About
The Urban Journalism Institute (UJI) is a platform promoting urban journalism to impact the current conversation about cities as a tool for sustainable development. This initiative is led by multidisciplinary professionals who believe building sustainable cities require well-informed citizens on sustainable urban development. Usually decisions taken by national, regional, or local governments have a long-term impact on the city’s physical form, its economic sustainability or social inclusiveness. However, focusing attention on those dynamics not only require trained journalists and committed media, but also communicators that are able to deliver effective messages on the positive impact of urban changes in local communities.
It means an effort from media, journalists, and communicators to understand how cities are planned, managed, and governed in needed. This understanding will facilitate more rigorous information to citizens about their cities and the planning of urban development.
