Capitals of Culture
From 1 January 2023, three cities hold the title of European Capital of Culture for 2023 in Europe: Elefsina (Greece), Timisoara (Romania) and Veszprém (Hungary). Novi Sad (Serbia), Kaunas (Lithuania), and Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) just finished an intense year of activities as European Capital of Culture in 2022. In Rabat, the first-ever African Capital of Culture for the years 2022 and 2023, the year started with the commemoration of the World Day of African and Afro-descendant Culture.
